Debra Thony: Licensed New York Sales Person
Debra “Deb” Thony came to the Catskill Region as a young woman when her parents realized their own dream of owning a home in the “country” and bought a 21 bedroom boarding house in the bucolic setting of rural Sullivan County where they enjoyed many summer vacations, until making this region their permanent home.
Deb comes to Catskill Country Real Estate with 40 + years of experience in the fields of law, insurance and real estate, where she worked in many capacities, first as a Paralegal for 20 years in a poverty law firm after graduating business school, then working for the next 15 years in a large corporate insurance company working first in the in house law firm as a Paralegal, then as a Government Relations Analyst, and finally in that same company as a high exposure Senior Medical Malpractice Examiner.
The most recent position Deb held for the past seven years, was as a Real Estate Paralegal working as a “closer” in a small but busy law firm where she worked on every aspect of the real estate transaction, from contract to closing, bringing hundreds of files each year to a successful conclusion, handling as many as three to seven closings per week in the busy season. In this capacity, Deb worked closely with surveyors, inspectors, mortgage brokers, realtors, title companies, as well as other law firms, and both Buyers and Sellers. Her goal was to make sure that the clients were well informed throughout the process, and that attention to detail was given to each file. All this backed up with her business and management experience as mentioned above, and over 25 years of appointments to her local Planning and Grievance Boards, bringing with her a working knowledge of subdivision and zoning laws. Deb is also a licensed NYS Notary Public and has held a NYS Real Estate Salesperson’s License since 1978.

Experience – I have experience in sales and in living/conducting business in Sullivan, Ulster, and Orange Counties. I grew up in Sullivan County, attended school in Sullivan County, and am now living in and raising my family in Sullivan County. I have owned homes in each of the three counties,have conducted business in each of the three counties, and have spent my life enjoying many of the activities and beauty that these counties offer.
I have owned newer construction, an older move in ready home, and a home that required complete renovation; I have experience with and know the pros and cons of all three options.
